Research

Whether it is reading one of the world’s only copies of the Necronomicon in the labyrinthine Miskatonic Library, going on groundbreaking geological expeditions in Antarctica, or working side by side with renowned psychologists at Arkham Asylum, Miskatonic students have countless opportunities to get involved in the university’s award-winning world-class research. With a long tradition of rigorous study and scholarly inquiry, Miskatonic University is famous for pioneering new advances in marine biology and library sciences. Overall, Miskatonic’s ever-vigilant dedication to discovering the unknown truths of the universe, no matter how unsettling, gives our school’s research initiatives the unique responsibility of advancing humanity’s collective knowledge while shielding the world from hitherto unknown paranormal threats.

Research Spotlight

Although dozens of Miskatonic researchers conduct hundreds of experiments investigating strange occurrences each year, only a small percentage of them live to tell the tale. Three of Miskatonic’s boldest researchers share their stories here for the first time.

Prof. Charles Atwood, PhD

"Although my entire research team was devoured by eldritch horrors in Antarctica, I still managed to collect several intriguing samples of rare minerals!”

Adjunct Detective Stan Steele

"While I am proud that I arrested an entire cult of deranged squid idol worshippers, I am still haunted to this day by nightmares about the indescribable things I saw at Red Hook.”

Dr. Henry Saltonstall-Phillips IV

"Why am I laughing? Because, after losing your sanity, there is not much else you can do.”
